The Elusive Search for Confidence from Magdalena Morey is about trying to project an elegant and vibrant appearance on the outside, hoping this will bring fulfillment. While on the inside feeling exposed and only appreciated for one’s appearance.
Evocative and original, this artwork uses a unique combination of gold leaf, pastels, acrylic and watercolor paints.
Magdalena’s Morey’s figurative work
Magdalena Morey’s figurative work focuses on the representation of the feminine form. These paintings are not intended to be self-portraits rather are an expression of her own internal states of being. The development of each artwork is somewhat akin to participating in a film where Magdalena is both the subject and the director. The figure grows, moves and develops continually until Magdalena reaches a point where she feels the composition has captured something fundamental about her perceived reality.
The end result
Sometimes the end result may be highly dynamic and playful, concentrating on the representation of motion. Or it can be more static and thoughtful, with an added focus on the use of color and texture. Magdalena tends to stick to the abstract form for the majority of each painting but includes one or two more realistic areas, such as a breast or the navel.
