“Yellow” by Vancouver Island artist, Lois Goodnough
Vancouver Island artist Lois Goodnough uses negative and reductive painting techniques in creating her figurative and floral artwork. Using the same approach to painting as in her figurative work, Lois Goodnough is looking for shapes of flowers and vases and use negative painting technique to reveal them. Lois, on “Yellow”: “This is painting #2 from a series of similar florals which I have titled by their colour. I have used collage papers and napkins while adding the paint, some of which I allow to show through in the image.”
Also is our collection is “Red”, of this same floral series. Lois has purposefully moved the vase and flowers to the opposite side of the substrate to allow “Yellow” and “Red” to be hung as a pair or separately.
