“The Pond” by Canadian landscape artist, Barbara DeMott
Over ten years ago Barbara DeMott donated a lovely property as an “eco- gift” to the Canadian government. This property had given her so much over the years and she wanted to share the love.
Barbara DeMott about “The Pond”: One of the features that made this beautiful property so special was the pond. It was so lovely, offering a home to birds, amphibians, and mammals, including a couple of endangered species. This painting celebrates this living gift in a monochrome oil finger painting, suggesting an old photograph.
“The Pond” is fitted in a wooden frame and is ready to hang.
In order to understand her subject matter at an intuitive level, Barbara has studied Chinese brush painting and calligraphy for years. Only after Barbara studied Japanese tea ceremony and Bharata Natyam dance with noted artists from China, she was rewarded with the Chinese name, “Baolan”. Barbara DeMott now uses this name to sign her paintings (see image).
