“The Eyes Have It” by Vancouver Island artist, Lois Goodnough
An intuitive painter, Lois Goodnough uses negative and reductive painting techniques to create imaginative figurative and floral work. “The Eyes Have It” is a rework over an earlier portrait. Rather than paint it over, Lois turned the painting upside down. She then began to see the figures emerge which she negatively painted around. If you look closely, you can still see some of the eyes of the original portrait, which inspired the title.
