“Into Greys” by Calgary-based contemporary artist, Elena Myasnikova
“The purpose of “Into Greys” was to create a beautiful effect of colours changing gradually from complementary hues to greys. The mood of this work is peaceful, mindful. A gentle reminder that each day holds beautiful moments which can be new beginnings.”
“Into Greys” is part of Elena’s Winter series, “Melancholic notes” (2018/2019). This series was inspired by her personal life changes, while driven by nostalgic emotions and rather forlorn feelings. Palettes and composition choices were affected directly by her state of mind and personal experiences. Works in this period of time are noticeably lighter and softer in colours.
Elena used multiple layering techniques in order to create deep hue and light effects. The artwork is heavy due to multiple layers of resin in the finish.
Gallery wrapped and wired on the back, this work does not require framing and is ready to hang.
