“Imaginary Forest” by Canadian landscape artist, Barbara DeMott
Barbara about “Imaginary Forest”: “This painting recalls the cliffs, covered with moss. Traversed by a tangle of roots lining the paths nearby a seaside home. Barbara created a variety of visual textures, tones, and patterns by rubbing glazes, splattering, and even finger painting. This work was developed with just two colours to create the effect of an old photograph.”
“Imaginary Forest” is beautifully framed and ready to hang.
In order to understand her subject matter at an intuitive level, Barbara has studied Chinese brush painting and calligraphy for years. Only after Barbara studied Japanese tea ceremony and Bharata Natyam dance with noted artists from China, she was rewarded with the Chinese name, “Baolan”. Barbara DeMott now uses this name to sign her paintings (see image).
